Mexican Americans wiping out the American racial system -- mexicoamericanos destruyendo el sistema racial americano

I found this amazing opinion piece in an alumni magazine. It is called "Mongrels, Bastards, Orphans, and Vagabonds: Mexican Americans blur, undermine, and will ultimately wipe out the American racial system." by Gregory Rodriguez

Because Mexican history has been characterized by widespread mestizaje—both cultural and racial—the Mexican American experience cannot be understood through the dichotomy of cultural resistance versus assimilation. Nor can the Latinization of the United States be viewed as the mere addition of a new color to the multicultural rainbow. For much of Mexican-American history, advocates fought to be included on one side or the other of the American racial divide.

Translation:
Porque la historía de México ha sido caracterizada por el mestizaje a gran escala-racial y cultural-la experiencia mexico-american no se puede entender a travez de la dicotomía de resistencia cultural vs. asimilación. Tampoco la latinanización de los Estados Unidos debe de verse como la mera suma de un color nuevo al arcoiris multicultural. Interesting idea. Will the author import only the mythical mestizaje from Mexico, the one that helps bring the country together, or will it also bring the racist realities that many Mexicans must live with.

Encontré el artículo que cité y tradujé una cita en una revista universitaria. En el artículo el autor dice que los mexico-americanos podran terminar con la separación racial de los Estados Unidos al traer con nosotros el concepto del mestizaje.

Es interesante la idea. Pero quisiera saber si el autor quiere importar la idea del mestizaje como el mito nacional mexico que es o quisiera importar la realidad racista a la que muchísimos mexicanos están expuestos.
